With autumn well and truly upon us, it’s time to start transitioning your makeup away from the pretty pinks and peaches of summer, usually opting for darker berry tones. However being naturally really pale, berry tones just seem to wash me out; so I tend to focus on my skin, always dreaming of that perfect dewy complexion. It’s around this time of year that I reassess my skincare routine and switch to slightly richer moisturisers. When the weather gets colder I find that my skin needs more nourishment. Although the temperature has been fluctuating a lot lately, it won’t be long before the cold sets in for winter.
Estee Lauder Clear Difference Serum has completely changed the way I view my skin. I have suffered with adult acne for the last six months or so which has left me with irritated skin, and let me tell you fair skin is not forgiving in the redness department. This is where this product has slotted in nicely and if I’m honest has saved me from hating the appearance of my skin. It soothes the irritation and calms the redness leaving me with clearer, smoother, fresher looking skin all whilst targeting, treats and significantly reducing the look of blemishes. I cannot recommend this product enough and it has become one of my Holy Grail beauty products.
In addition to the clear difference serum, I have added Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair to my evening skin care routine. Whilst sorting and clearing out my dressing table for the upcoming bedroom renovation, I found a bottle of the repairing oil hidden amongst my stash and I was instantly looking forward to cleansing my skin that night. I’m not sure why I stopped using this product because it really is genius. Simply massage a few drops into freshly cleansed skin to help repair the skin during it’s natural nightly renewal.
During the winter months, our skin is prone to become dry and dull. This next product is an absolute staple, purely because of its multiple uses. The Dior Backstage Airflash Radiance Mist is a long-lasting setting spray inspired by backstage makeup techniques. A genuine glow booster and skin perfector. I use it as a primer to prep my face, as a setting spray and also to refresh throughout the
day. Prep:Mist instantly fuses with the skin, leaving it fresh, soft, and ready for makeup. Set:Long-wearing, it ensures makeup stays beautiful with a weightless effect for a lastingly radiant finish. Refresh:Light and practical, Mist can also be used for touch-ups throughout the day to restore radiance to tired, dull complexions.
I have gradually been going blonder since the start of 2018 (I know its autumn and everyone seems to go darker for this season but it’s been such a long process and I’m sticking with it) and with that also means that the products I use on my eye brows needed to lighten to match my hair colour. I really struggled to find not only a colour that suited me but also a product that gave me a fluffy natural brow that I prefer; that for months I have been using an eye shadow from Bobbi Brown and an angled brush. Not ideal but it worked and did the job that I needed it too. Until Benefitdecided to shake things up in the brow sphere once more with the launch of Brow Contour Pro– a four in one brow product that looks remarkable like those multicoloured Biros we used in school. Ultimately, Benefit’s offering reduces your brow kit down to a single product. The new pen has four settings that click into place by pushing the according button at the pen’s base. It comes in five colour options, and each pen contains two brow shades (one light and one dark to help create realistic-looking brows), an edge definer and an arch highlighter. The brow definer acts as a concealer you can use for easy cleanup while the highlighter is for drawing attention to the arches. The pen is super easy to use. The formula glides on with ease and is seriously blendable. The pigment itself sets over time, so you won’t find your brows smudged across your forehead an hour later. Just as I imagined from this brand, it was easy to get my brows looking the way I like them (feral and full), and I found that having two different shades of brown really does help make them look bushier. For anyone who loves a perfected brow look, this is a game changer.
During the autumnal months, its essential for me to apply some bronzer to help warm up my very pale skin to avoid looking washed out and for people to stop asking if I’m ill (you would be surprised how often it has happened in the past). My only problem was that bronzer also had the tenancy to make me look dirty, purely because it was too orange for my skin tone; I had gotten used to applying it with a light hand and having to blend blend blend. That was until Benefit answered the fair skinned beauties prayers and released a lighter, more wearable version of their iconic Hoola – Hoola Lite and my god it’s really good! In terms of the formula, it’s easy to blend, highly pigmented, and not overly dry. When swatched, the powder is creamy, and there’s no issue with chalkiness during application. It’s easy to wear, hard to over-do, requires very little experience and saves me 5 minutes each morning as I don’t have to blend. It also comes in very handy as a base colour for my eyes, making me look and feel more awake each morning.
I love warmer toned nudes with a subtle hint of colour and that is why I love L’Oreal Paris Life’s a Peach Skin Awakening Blush is a flattering peach coloured blush that helps brighten complexion. The product has a beautiful peach design pressed into it and smells just like peaches, even when you apply it to your face you can smell it on your brush and cheeks. It glides on like heaven, there’s no fallout, and the pigmentation is so beautiful, it’s not a bold shade but it is easily buildable if that’s what you like or you can keep it pulled back and barely there with a light hand application. L’Oreal Life’s A Peach blush is a warm toned shade that warms up the complexion so if you are wanting to warm up the face without using bronzer this bad boy maybe the one for you.
They say that your makeup is not complete without a smile, but its 100% better with a bit of lippy to tie the whole colour palette together. My go to shade at the moment is Nude Gold in the Colour Riche collection by L’oreal Paris. The colour riche collection launched over 30 years ago and yet it is still one of L’Oreal’s best selling products. The Colour Riche formula is still obsessed with providing the richest colour and the richest care in one lipstick, As well as its intense colour pigment, each Colour Riche lipstick shade is enriched with a combination of Omega 3 oils and vitamin E which helps protect lips from drying out.
